Adding the fire engine siren sound effect
After looking over some of the audience feedback, we decided we should add in some more sound effects to improve the title sequence of 'INCINERATE' at the end. I came up with the idea to add in a fire engine siren sound. I thought this would be really effective to add in to the end and it's when the fire blares up and it would be where a fire engine is needed. It also creates a sense of urgency, which compliments the genre very well.
To find the perfect siren sound, I searched 'fire engine siren sound effect' on YouTube, it took a while to find one that sounded realistic and quite subtle. Once I found one, I copied the link and pasted into a website called 'YouTube Converter'. This allowed me to download it into my documents. I then just dragged it onto the editing bar in Final Cut Pro.
Once we had the sound effect in the right place, we had to crop it to be the right size we wanted. We made it slightly longer than the length of the end title sequence saying 'Incinerate'. We did this purposefully so that the siren would be the last thing the audience hears.
Secondly, we had to raise the decibels and make the clip louder so that it was an appropriate volume. And then lastly, we had to fade the ending so that it didn't end with an abrupt stop. To do this, you just click the small dot at the end of the clip and drag it inwards until it has faded the clip out to however much is required.
The screenshot below shows the the fire engine siren sound clip is slightly longer than the title clip and it also shows how we've dragged the end part inwards in order to make it fade out.
