Filming Evaluation

Day 1: Leybourne Grange

Location:

Birling Rd, West Malling, ME19 5HZ

Meeting Point:

Harriet, Isabel and Lauryn all got buses into the Maidstone Town centre for around 10am, whereby they were then able to get a taxi to the agreed meeting point in Birling Road, West Malling on Wednesday 23rd December. Kelsey was picked up from her home in Larkfield at 10:30am by a relative and taken to the meeting point. Due to traffic, both cars were delayed slightly and thus, all met at the arranged point for around 11:15am. Harriet and Lauryn went ahead to the location in order to begin setting up for filming and Kelsey and Isabel then made the short 10 minute walk a few minutes later.

Here are few images from the day to serve as evidence that all participants were present for filming:

Props:

Kelsey: Kelsey brought the tripod, fake blood and newspaper article, along with a lighter also to use for prop making.

Isabel: Isabel brought a regular T-Shirt in the end, which we then burnt on set in order to make the burns appear more recent; this was then used as the base for the burnt victim in the final scene of film opening. She also bought a matchbox containing matches (the weapon choice for the killer).

Lauryn: Lauryn brought the camera which we used for filming and also a lighter for the fire scenes detailed in the storyboard.

Harriet: Harriet brought the missing posters which were hung on the wall during the set up; she also brought black masking tape to attach the posters to the wall as this appeared more sinister than the original idea of BluTack.

What will be shot?

We managed to film the majority of the storyboard shots in the arranged time, including the mini flashback of the fire but excluding the close-ups of the burns. Shots filmed include:

- Hand held camera work of the victim walking towards and into the lair, exploring the location.
- The close up shots of the missing posters, newspaper article and matchbox, etc.
- Hand held camera work of the victim walking around the side of the location, into the back room where the previous victim is found.
- CCTV camera work of the victim being killed by the killer.
- Extreme Close-up of killer lighting a match.
- Flash back scene of a fire will also be shot.

Total Time:

Due to the addition of a few mini scenes, the filming of all clips mentioned above concluded to be around 3.5 hours.

Finished time = 2:30pm.
