Action films deconstruction- Typography

Deconstruction- Typography

This screen grab from the Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol opening title sequence shows the words 'Mission: Impossible'. The effects on the typography look as though there's been an explosion and the title has been left. A common convention of action films is explosions and fire, so the title is incorporated well into the theme. The font looks as though it has been digitally entered, like the numbers that are seen on a digital alarm clock. This could represent the fact that time is ticking down, perhaps time ticking to complete a mission. I think this is very effective and corresponds well with the genre of the film.

The other title that's involved in the sequence is the title 'Ghost protocol'. This also works really well with thee theme as this is a sub-genre mix of Action and supernatural. Ghosts and spirits are therefore involved in this film. The effects put on the title make the title itself appear as a ghost. The fading and wispiness of the letters creates a spiritual effect.

The title also disappears in the same way a ghost would if you were to go into it. All of the fonts are sans-serif, which conforms to the common typography conventions for an action genre.
