Practical Task - Shooting Schedule
Props and Equipment:
- Lauryn: Camera, SD card
- Izzy: Killer Masks, Matches
- Harriet: Missing Posters
- Kelsey: Tripod, Newspaper, Blonde Wig
As a group we have decided to conduct our filming on Wednesday 23rd December 2015. Me, Izzy and Harriet will meet at 10am in the centre of Maidstone Town Centre. Once we have all arrived we will take a taxi to Leybourne Grange Riding Centre for the Disabled which is estimated to take around 20 minutes depending on traffic. When we have arrived at the riding school we will have to walk through a nearby housing estate and across a field to reach the small, abandoned shack that we have agreed to film at with us hopefully reaching it at 10:40am.
Once there, me and Harriet will begin to pin missing posters onto the walls, distribute newspaper clippings and move around old bottles and rubbish to make the shack seem more eerie and abandoned. Whilst we are doing that, Izzy will walk back to the main road to meet Kelsey at around 11am. By the time they have returned, we will have finished putting up the props and creating the correct atmosphere.
We will be ready to begin filming at 11:15am and will begin with a long shot sequence involving Kelsey walking towards the abandoned shack and the camera slowly moving with her but always remaining 3 or 4 paces behind her. We plan to film this within 10 minutes as it is relatively straightforward when planned correctly.
We then plan to move onto the Match on Action at 11:30am in which Kelsey will break through the door as she is entering the abandoned shack. We plan to take the shot from three separate angles with them begin looking on sideways as she breaks the door from the outside, a long shot of Kelsey from the inside as she breaks through the door and finally a close up of Kelsey's foot breaking down the door. We have decided to repeat each shot twice to make sure we have plenty of options to use when editing. We have estimated this to take around 20 minutes.
After this we hope to continue by filming all landscape shots involving both Kelsey and the props we will use such as the close ups of the missing posters and Kelsey discovering the newspaper on the floor of the shack. We will also take a variety of close up shots of the graffiti covering the walls of the shack. After taking a variety of these shots we hope to complete this within 15 minutes taking us to around 12:10pm.
We will then take a short break in which we will spend around 15 minutes creating the main prop for the burn scene. Using lighters and matches we will burn holes in an old T-shirt that Izzy will wear to make it look like she has been involved in an accident involving fire. Once it is at the correct standard Izzy will change into her costume of the burnt top and black leggings to make her skin look charcoaled. We should be finished this by 12:30pm.
The final thing we will do is that I will put my hair up into a hat to make me look like a fire victim and then we will record the scene in which Kelsey discovers Izzy's body right before Kelsey is about to become the killers next victim. We will do this as a high-angle shot which we will then edit into a CCTV shot when back in school. After completing this final shot and packing up the all the equipment we aim to be finished by 1pm after which we will all walk up to the main road again ready to go home.
