Editing: Clipping/Cutting:

Editing: clipping/cutting scene after match on action:

When watching back our scene, i noticed how after our match on action of the character kicking down the door there was around a 5-7 second pause before the location was entered, i decided to cut the scene at the desired point and then crop the excess out. I had to ensure it flowed smoothly.

I had to time it correctly so that when the barricade was kicked down, the netting would fall back in place before i cut it so it would be a smooth transition to the net then again being lifted when the character entered.

Evaluation:

  • Cutting the match on action down allowed for this editing technique to look cleaner and more professional.
  • Match on action is an important feature of many films within the horror genre since it allows for action to be seen as it takes place.
  • Although cutting it to the exact point took a while, it did prove to be a worthy action since it helped the scene flow much better.
