Filming: Opening scene:

Filming:

This photo was taken on the day of filming our opening scene.

On the day each person in our group was given different roles, since I was not featured in the film I filmed a fair amount. I also chose our location so it was easier for me to know what spots to film since I had been there numerous times before.

The following are screen grabs of the scenes i filmed:

I filmed the shots of the character walking up to the abandoned building.

This scene was the character stepping over the newspaper as representation of events to come swell as making the events clear to the audience.
This was to imitate a hand held shot of the character panning across the missing posters.

I used a tilt in this shot to show the character standing up.

A pan was used in this shot to show a smooth following of the character walking around the building.

Evaluation:

  • I filmed the majority of our scene, which helped improve my camera work skills. As well as allowing me to gain a greater amount of knowledge on different things such as tracking (following the character at the beginning). It also allowed me to know about different camera angles and shots, for example close up, mid shots, long shots, pans and tilts.
  • The process was very interesting in terms of lighting as well. Having to be careful where the camera is placed to ensure the lighting is good and fits the scene. I wanted to ensure the lighting was not too bright/dark but dark enough to act as a representation of the dark events to come.
  • Shots such as the newspaper were done in order to act as a method of foreshadowing.
  • My research helped with this process since it allowed me to consider lighting as well as different shots that could be included.
