When editing the 2 minute film opening, I had to insert to cam-corder effect in certain parts of the video. This is because we had set our film opening out so that some shots would be the main character filming what she's seeing on her phone, and some shots would be from the perspective of the phone itself, taking the videos. In order for the audience to tell the difference between the two types of shots, camera recording effects had to be inserted on the ones that were from her phone.
The effect was very easily to include. First you click on the button that shows to squares layered over each other, one's slightly faded and the other looks like film roll. This button is used to add effects over the video. Then I went to 'All' in the Video section after selected the effects button. This takes you to a variety of options of what effects you could put over your video. I scrolled down until I reached the cam-corder effect. I then dragged the box effect over to the sections I need with it in. I have the choice to change the text on the effect, however everyone in my group and I decided that 'REC' is appropriate and would look most realistic.
Evaluation-
Overall, the cam-corder effect was inserted into the video at 4 different points to show when the main character was actually filming from her phone. I think the effect is very effective and allows the audience to really tell which kind of shot is which. The use of a point-of-view shot throughout the film opening, not only tells the story that the girl is exploring and filming what she is seeing, but also allows the audience to gain an insight into what the girl is going through while she is exploring.
