Practical task- Editing (blading/splitting flashbacks)

Blading or splitting the fire flashback scenes in half-

When editing the 2 minute film opening, I realised that when including flashbacks, we had to relate the fires and the effects of the fires together. This would mean including the burn images from the victims in with the flashbacks of the fires. One way of doing this without effect the music or the surrounding clips is the blade the fire flashback clips in half and literally insert the burns images into the middle.

To blade the fire flashback clips, I selected the middle of the clip first, so that the pointer line was placed directly in the centre. I then pressed the 'Apple Home key' + 'Shift key' + 'B' on the keyboard which automatically splits the clip in half, where the pointer line was placed, without majorly effecting the music clip.
Once the fire flashback clip was split I inserted the previously edited burns images into the middle of the split fir flashback clips. I made sure the burns pictures were cut down to the perfect size so they were in proportion to the rest of the flashback size.

The overall and final effect of the cut flashbacks looks really good and effective. Blading the fire flashbacks worked very well and we were able to make the flashbacks look much more realistic and suited the genre perfectly.
